Telephone service - the Energy Information Line

If you don't have ready access to the internet or do not feel confident using the internet, the NSW Government Contact Centre provides a telephone service, the Energy Information Line which complements this on-line energy price comparison service.  The Energy Information Line will use information that you provide to run the price comparison calculator for you and will post you the results.  The Energy Information Line will not advise you on which retailer you should choose. 

The Energy Information Line will ask for the same information as the price comparison website, including:

  • Your postcode
  • Whether you want to compare electricity or gas offers, or both
  • Whether the energy is for  your house or business
  • For electricity offers, if you have a time-of-use meter or off-peak hot water service
  • How often your bills arrive
  • How much electricity/gas you consume each bill period, or how much you usually spend on your electricity/gas bills. 

It would be helpful to have this information and your latest bill ready when you contact the Energy Information Line.
